Okay, here we go again. I am once again trying to kick my addiction....SUGAR. By sugar, of course, I also mean the illustrious HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP. Why do I have such a hard time avoiding these sweet demons?! Well, quite frankly, aside from swearing, it may be my only vice...addiction-wise, that is. Drinking makes my arms feel heavy and smoking is a given no-no for me, so that leaves sugar. It gives me a light-headed, all-is-right-in-the-world feeling. Plus, with 4 children to set the tone of my day, eating seems to be the one thing I can control (or not, it seems). On the flip side of sugar is the fact that I crash after eating it, it inspires me to over-eat, and it keeps me feeling sleepy for most of the day.
It goes without saying that this is one empty substance that should be eliminated from my plate. So, here we go again. I will post every day for 365 days. Even if it is just one line. I will check in and re-affirm my committment to stay away from my drug of choice.
Oh, and FYI, my avoidance will consist of all treats and foods with added sweeteners...but foods that are NATURALLY sweet- such as fruits in their natural state- are fair game!
